Foodbank Collection this Saturday!
On Saturday 8th July, the Rotary Club of Evesham will be holding their tin and non perishable items collection at Morrisons Supermarket Evesham, to help those in need.
The collection will be between 11am and 3pm and the collected items will then be handed over to local charity Caring Hands, who will distribute them to food banks across Evesham and the Vale.
From 1st April until 10th June, Caring Hands handed out 108 food parcels, equating to 4374 meals. This is an 80% rise on the same period in 2016.
The aim of the collection is for shoppers to buy extra tins, non perishable food items, cleaning and toiletry items during their own shop and then donate them. Caring Hands will then make up food parcels for handing out.
Rotarian organiser Jeremy Knight commented, “ Evesham Rotary Club is very aware of the 80% growth in the number of individuals and families, many with children, who need the help of food banks, to provide much needed food and other non perishable goods. As a local Club we believe we can help those in need in our own community and this is why we continue to collect for Caring Hands.
I would like to thank Morrisons for their help and support and of course Caring Hands who will make sure the collected items go to those in need.”
The Rotary Club will have leaflets on the day to guide shoppers in the ideal items to buy.
