Food Bank Collection
On Saturday 8th December starting at 9am, the Rotary Club of Evesham, will be holding their annual tin and non perishable items collection at Morrisons Supermarket, Evesham, to help those in need this Christmas.
The collected items will be handed over to local charity Caring Hands, who will distribute them to food banks across Evesham and the Vale.
Diane Bennett of Caring Hands commented, “In the past few months, referrals for single people have increased by 10% but referrals for families have increased by 50% in the food bank and 140% in the household bank. There is generally an increase at this time of year anyway, taking into account it being the winter period and with Christmas on the horizon, but it is much greater than I had anticipated.
Rotarian organiser, Jeremy Knight, says: “We know from past experience that many Morrisons’ shoppers will buy extra items that will help those who are in need of support and we thank them for this. I would also like to thank Morrisons for their help and support and of course Caring Hands who will make sure the collected items go to those in need.”
