Successful Tin Collection for Local Foodbanks
The Rotary club of Evesham held their annual tin and non perishable items collection at Morrisons Supermarket, Evesham last Saturday and what a success it was. The generous supermarket shoppers donated over 1150 items for Evesham Foodbanks’, which local charity Caring Hands will distribute to those in need. But this year it got even better due to the amazing efforts of The de Montfort school Interact club. They held their own collections for the household bank and raised a staggering 550 items, again to be given to Caring Hands for distribution.
Diane Bennett of Caring Hands commented, “At the moment we are operating on a 40% increase, from this time last year, in referrals to the food bank. If this continues we will have donated over 600 food parcels by the end of the current financial year. We are so grateful to Morrisons, The de Montfort school and Rotary and our thanks to all of our supporters who have raised so many extra items that can be given out”.
Rotarian organiser Jeremy Knight said, “Evesham Rotary club would like to thank Morrsions for allowing us to collect at the store and for their continued support and off course the many shoppers who collected so many items. We also want to thank The de Montfort Interact club for their amazing efforts”.
